A Soviet trade union delegation arrives in Venice. In the company of "production leaders," the film's heroine looks like a "black sheep." A Russian intellectual with the ancient name of Chloe, finding herself abroad for the first time, and in Casanova's homeland at that, falls in love with an Italian, Lorenzo, not suspecting that he is a swindler and a gigolo courting rich women.
