Jakarta 1955. Danti, a librarian, and Bayu, a writer, live in the same boarding house with their respective partners. Their partners often leave them to become close because of their similarity of loneliness. When Danti decides to keep her distance from Bayu, she finds out that her husband, Sena, a party activist, has a relationship with Lastri, a singer and Bayu's wife.
