For many years, Irina has been desperately fighting for the life of her son, Kirill, who suffers from a severe heart defect. But the boy's condition worsens, and she is forced to swallow her pride and seek help from his father, Andrey Egorov, a successful owner of a private clinic. It is there that the brilliant doctor Sergey Gavrilov works, and she has no place on the waiting list for his surgery. Irina's past relationship with Egorov was fleeting and left a deep wound in his wife, Alla, who, due to stress, lost their child and remained childless forever. Meeting Irina and learning of her son's existence shocks Egorov; he enthusiastically volunteers to help and establishes contact with Kirill. However, Egorov soon dies under mysterious circumstances, and Irina becomes the prime suspect in his murder.
